Web Page Help
This is a guide to creating your own webpage. If you are a customer of SWNM On-Line, then you are eligible for webspace. Currently we have no cap on the amount of information uploaded. You must contact us to setup your page. Email or phone at 575 544-3482.
Step 1:
Contact SWNM On-Line and we will setup your personal webpage. The URL, or web address will be www.swnm.com/yourusername. At this time we put no cap on the amount of information you can upload.
Step 2:
Create an HTML (Hyperterminal Markup Language) document on YOUR computer. You can create a page by actually writing the code in an application such as notepad, or your can download or purchase programs (such as Microsoft Front Page) that create the code for you.
Step 3:
Once your page (or pages) are ready you need to upload to your directory. You will need an FTP program. Various programs are available either as freeware (free), or shareware (fee charged either immediately or after an evaluation period). Some webpage creator programs have built in ftp. Your default page (or main page) should be named index.htm OR index.html. You must have a file with this name. In your FTP program you will be asked for the following information. Name of server: www.swnm.com; Server IP address: 65.100.113.11; user: your user name (log on name); password: your user password. The process of moving files from your computer to the server is much like moving a file from one directory to another in windows explorer. Remember, you will need to upload not only your HTML documents, but also any graphics you may decide to use (most often with a GIF or JPG extension).
Step 4:
Your webpage is now ready to be accessed. Go to your web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and type your URL or webaddress. If all step were completed, your page is now accessible to the world.
