The system uses the 2.4 GHz unlicensed band. What that means is instead of connecting to the internet via your telephone line, the connection is provided through the airwaves. Each subscriber will have an antenna and equipment located at their home, pointed to our antenna atop the Little Florida Mountains. With Alvarion Wireless we can serve all of the city, and much of the county. When you express an interest in wireless we will first check our coverage map, and then run a site survey at your home or office to make sure you qualify. Each account provides a 24/7 connection to the internet, ready when you are. For those times you are not by your wireless computer, we also include a standard dial-up account (an $18.50 value) free with the service. Another advantage is each wireless user receives a static IP address. That means your IP address doesn't change each time you go on the internet. Users are responsible for their own security.
