Who or what is PC Sugar

PC SUGAR?

Personal  Computer   Special  User  Group for  Area  Residents

(PC SUGAR) is a non-profit organization serving users of DOS and Windows 95/98/ through XP, specializing in the training and use of these computer systems. PC SUGAR has no paid staff members but we do have people that are willing to share what they know and are willing to learn from others.

Members enjoy meetings on the third Saturday of each month, except for the months of August and December, at the Senior Citizens Center in Deming, NM. .   Members receive a ten month subscription to the Input/Output newsletter, as well as other benefits.

PC SUGAR meetings can educate you and your family in the use of computers. We have demonstrations, special classes for beginners and classes for Special Interest Groups (SIG). There are group discussions, question and answer periods, and, occasionally, guest speakers. If you have not yet attended one of our meetings, we would be delighted to have you come. There is no obligation and we are sure you will enjoy yourself.

A Brief History

This computer user group was formed in November of 1989 with 13 members in attendance. That number has changed considerably. We are now one of the largest user groups in New Mexico having close to 200 members. This is remarkable when you consider how small Deming is.

Always "Under Construction"

Michael Kromeke persuaded Ellen Hardy to create a web site for her church. Mike shared much of what he had learned while building his own web site with Ellen. A foundation was laid for her to build on. That site was completed and a new challenge reared it's head. A site for PC SUGAR!

Boy at Computer

Mike spent hours evaluating other sites to prepare a "suggested outline" for this one. The outline was accepted without hesitation, and the work began. Mike took on the job of "gathering" photos and went to work preparing them for publication on the Officers,  Past Officers, Instructors and Pictures pages.

When it was almost ready Bill Burkle secured a web site for PCSUGAR. A few days later we were "On Line".

Shortly after viewing the site Bill made a few suggestions, about 3,003 of them.  Yes, we had created a monster. Bill, not the site. He really did like it and several goodies were added at his request.

As you travel through these pages please be aware that several heads and hands were, and still are, at work here. Looks as though our motto might be "Always Under Construction". Thanks guys.
