Outlook Express Setup:
This is the setup information for Microsoft's Outlook Express. If you want this program, and don't have it, Download it here. When you download the latest version of Internet Explorer, Outlook Express is included. We do not currently support News Groups.

If this is the first time you are using Outlook Express the Setup Wizard will start up. If not, go to the menu tab Tools, and then Accounts. On the right, click add and mail. The box to the right will then appear.

1. Display Name. The name someone you send email to will see.
Outlook 1
2. Email address. This is yourusername, the name you selected, followed by @swnm.com. User name is NOT case sensative. Outlook 2
3. Server information. Mail Server should be set to POP3. For both incoming and outgoing mail, the correct entry is mail.swnm.com. Outlook 3
4. Log On. Your POP account name is yourusername. The password is the password you selected. Remember, passwords are case sensitive. Outlook 4
5. Friendly Name. This is the name that will be displayed in Outlook Express for YOU ONLY. You may not see this on some version of Outlook Express. If not, just skip this step. Outlook 5
6. Connection Method. You have an option here. If you plan to always connect to the internet before opening Outlook Express, then connect manually works best. However, if you wish Outlook Express to establish an internet connection on it's own, then choose use phone line. Use existing Dial-up connection to SWNM On-Line. Again, on some versions of Outlook Express you may not see this. If not, just skip this step. Outlook 5
7. Finish. You have now sucessfully created your email account. If you need or want to create more than one account (for aliases for example), then repeat the process for each account. You can create seperate folders, and redirect incoming mail using the Inbox Assistant under tools. Outlook 7
Enable SMTP Authentication
In Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express: Open the program, then on the top menu bar go tools. From there you want to click on accounts. If not already, click on the mail tab. Highlight (single click) your mail account. Then click the button "Properties". Click on the servers tab. Put a check mark in the box that says "My server requires authentication". Click apply and ok. That's it!
